UNIVERSIDAD A DISTANCIA (UNED)

THE UNIVERSITY HISTORY
The National University of Distance Education (UNED) is a Spanish public university of national scope, under the Ministry of Education of Spain.
It is the first university in Spain by number of students enrolled with almost 265,000 students. It has its headquarters in the city of Madrid, in the university campuses of Senda del Rey and University City, although it has a wide network of associated centers spread throughout the Spanish geography and part of the foreigner.
The UNED is characterized by offering a modality of distance study, with the use of new technologies through its virtual courses on Internet, educational television and radio programs, in combination with face-to-face tutorials in the cities where it has centers. associates The studies at the UNED are based on the European credit system "European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System".
The university has its roots in the project of the Free University at a Distance (UNILAD), an institution proposed in the early seventies with the aim of bringing higher education to those people that did not have a university near, thus enabling access to university studies to people who because of their place of residence or any personal difficulty could not attend the university in person.
